About Me
I am a proud country boy who grew up in Port Augusta before moving to Adelaide to attend Sacred Heart College. While my original ambition was tennis rather than medicine, the opportunities that sport provided helped shape my future. Although I was never destined for a professional tennis career, tennis opened doors for me to compete and coach at a national level, and ultimately helped me fund my way through medical school.
Following graduation, my young family and I spent many of our formative years in the Riverland South Australia, where I worked as a Rural GP Anaesthetist in Barmera for almost 15 years. Those years provided invaluable clinical experience and reinforced my appreciation for continuity of care, community connection and the broad scope of rural medicine.
Today I continue to enjoy the diversity and challenge of General Practice, while also contributing to the education and mentoring of future General Practitioners through my work with the RACGP and Flinders University.
I remain passionate about sport and the outdoors. While my body no longer allows me to play competitive tennis, I now enjoy spending time on the golf course, fishing from our family shack in Port Augusta and following the Hawthorn Football Club.

Philosophy
My philosophy of General Practice is centred on building long-term professional relationships with patients. I believe that good healthcare is not simply about treating illness, but about helping people achieve and maintain the best possible health, wellbeing and quality of life for whatever years lie ahead.
I believe patients deserve care that they genuinely value—care that is accessible, evidence-based, practical and tailored to their individual circumstances. While modern medicine offers remarkable treatments and medications, I am passionate about ensuring that the foundations of good health are not overlooked. Exercise, nutrition, sleep, social connection and preventive healthcare remain some of the most powerful tools we have to improve health outcomes and reduce future disease.
Evidence-based medicine sits at the heart of my clinical decision-making. However, medicine is ultimately about people, not statistics. The best healthcare combines scientific evidence with an understanding of each patient’s goals, values and unique circumstances. My aim is to work collaboratively with patients to develop realistic and sustainable plans that support both their immediate health needs and their long-term wellbeing.
Teaching the Next Generation of Doctors
Alongside my clinical work, I have a longstanding passion for medical education. I enjoy helping train the next generation of General Practitioners through my work with the RACGP and Flinders University.
As a Medical Educator and GP Registrar Supervisor, I regularly teach doctors in training through workshops, small group learning sessions and one-on-one supervision in clinical practice.
I find teaching keeps me current, challenges my thinking and ultimately benefits my patients by ensuring my practice remains evidence-based and continually evolving.
For many years I have been involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors and GP registrars, and I continue to find great satisfaction in helping young doctors develop their clinical skills and confidence.
